Wild Coast, Elredd, Sewers under the Dock Quarter, Night.
Having just killed a giant snake the party give up investigating the sewers and emerge back onto the beach. They wash themselves clean in the sea. The magical light shining from Aurin's hand attracts the attention of the city guards patrolling the docks, but they merely observe them from a distance until the party head back to their lodgings at the Hammer and Anvil
After entering their rooms the party immediately search to see if their room was again disturbed. Noting appears out of place but Edgaar finds a note placed among his possessions. It reads Behind Heaving Sailor. Sunrise. K.. The party ponder the mysterious. Though it is quite late Tellius go to the inn keeper to organise meals sent to their rooms. While speaking with the inn keeper Tellius asks of the Heaving Sailor and learns that it is a tavern in the merchant district, one of the better districts of Elredd. Over their late meal the party decide to sleep what remains of the night and awake before sunrise to meet whoever this K is.
An hour before sunrise the party leave for the merchant quarter. Yet again they suspect they are followed. They locate the Heaving Sailor, a single story establishment close to the city outer wall. Rondo stays out front on the street while all but Lucien go behind the tavern and wait. Lucien slips off and climbs an adjacent building to hide and get good view of the tavern. Time passes. The sun rises. Aurin uses his familiar to observe the area from above. He notices an individual lurking at one of the street corners in view of the front entrance of the tavern.
On the roof Lucien hears a soft voice coming from the under the tiles he is lying on. The voice claims to be K, the sender of the message. He explains that he has no love for the slavers. He asks why the party appear to be investigating the slavers and offers to help if he can. Lucien tell him of the party and their purpose. He confirms that the Broken Rudder is the slavers headquarters in Elredd. The upper floor is occupied by three key individuals. Twin dwarves Ragnar and Agnar, and an old sorcerer called Hazzard. Ragnar is the leader. All three are dangerous but the sorcerer most of all. He claims to have investigated the sewers below the Broken Rudder and reports that there is no access to the inn from below. He has also briefly been in the upper level of the Broken Rudder but had to flee before he could break into any of the rooms. As far as he is aware there are no guard on the upper floor but the stairs that lead to from the common room on the ground floor are watched by up to half a dozen agents hiding amongst the other patrons. Most of the patrons are innocent and unaware that the inn is the slaver headquarters. He offers to help if he can and will contact Lucien again if he has more information. He bids good bye.
Lucien climbs down from the roof and join those behind the tavern and suggests they all go inside for a drink. Inside he quietly tells of his meeting with K. While doing so Aurin notices that the individual he detected lurking outside earlier has sat down at an adjacent table to eat breakfast. Rondo confronts him but the stranger claims Rondo has mistaken him for someone else. The party head back to the Hammer and Anvil.
When they return to the inn they find the inn keeper consoling a sobbing serving girl. Tellius goes to them and asks what has happened. At first the inn keeper says only that the party must leave his inn. He refunds their last nights fee. The inn keeper looks frightened. Tellius uses his soothing voice persuade the inn keeper to explain that the serving girl was ambushed this morning when she went out back. The assailant threatened to burn down the inn if the party continued to stay here. The inn keeper pleads for the party to leave as he wants no trouble. The inn is his livelihood. Sympathising with the inn keeper the party gather their belonging and leave the inn. When they go to the stable to fetch their mule they discover the poor creature has been slaughtered. The party move their gear into the street out front of the inn and discuss what to do next.
