Lucien grew up on the streets of the city of Greyhawk. His mother waited on tables in one of the more salubrious establishments in the red-light area of the city and he never knew his father. Unfortunately his mother died while he was still a young boy, for a few months he made his own way begging and scrounging from those that had so much more, a few missing tidbits would go unnoticed. It was not long before he was taken in by the local guild, where he became most proficient in filching, burglary and the like. His talents soon had him in under the eye of the guild superiors and he was only too happy to receive their fatherly attention along with ‘special’ training. Lucien was well satisfied with his position but still he had a deep need to find who sired him.
Lucien left the city of Greyhawk for the Wild Coast in search of his father. Everything he knew about his father he learnt from his mother before she died, and it wasn't much.
Lucien knew his father ...
Lucien is in possession of the pendant.
Lucien traveled by river boat from the City of Greyhawk to Hardby. On the boat he met two travelers Saab and Tellius also passengers also bound for Hardby. They had traveled from cold lands far to the North in search of a legendary sword to defeat a dragon menacing that kingdom. They seemed to be experienced travelers and stout warriors. Lucien is at home in a city or town but was a bit out of his depth on the road or in the wilderness so he befriended them. Lucien told them of his own quest to find his father and the three agreed to help each other in Hardby by keeping an ear and eye out for any information that may help the other in their search.
At Hardby they all got lodging at the same inn. For the next few days Tellius and Saab searched for information about the sword and Lucien searched for information about his father and you met each night to share any news.
One night, while seeking information at a tavern, Lucien heard a bard tell a story involving a "a magic sword of ice from the frozen lands at the end of the world". Lucien arranged for the bard to meet Tellius and Saab later that night. The bard told that the story was his creation inspired by a conversation he had with a stranger in Safeton. The stranger possessed a magnificent sword which he says he recovered from the bottom of Woolley Bay when it was caught in his net. The sword was enchanted, dealt deadly cold to enemies and was carved with strange runes. The bard made a copy of the runes and later discovered they were of the type used by the Barbarian kingdoms of the North. The stranger had the tattoo of a mermaid on his upper left arm!
The three bought passage to Safeton on the ship Mandragora. The ship was a private vessel but appeared to be gearing up for some sort of military action. A small compliment of mercenaries joined the before it departed Hardby.
On the short voyage to Safeton one of the crew, Edgaar, recognized Saab as fellow native of his homeland and asked for news of that kingdom. Edgaar was concerned when he learnt about the dragon threat and curious about the quest for the sword.
Once the Mandragora docked at Safeton the crew were left to their own devices for a few days while the captain had business to discuss with his employer. Edgaar spent this time hanging out with the three of you keen to help with the quest for the sword that would rid the menace to his homeland. Tagging along with you all was one of the mercenaries, Rondo, recently befriended by Edgaar. Each night Edgaar and Rondo would retire to sleep on the ship. Tellius, Saab and Lucien had lodgings at an inn.
On the third night in Safeton the Mandragora caught fire and burned to the waterline. Rondo and Edgaar stored their rescued gear in your rooms and crashed there for the night.
The next morning the devastated captain disbanded the crew. That day while Lucien was seeking information about his father around the docks a sailor, in response to being shown the shark tooth pendant, mentioned that a small fishing village to the South has a legend about a mermaid named Sevon. The village is named after the mermaid.
Later that evening after some discussion it was agreed that Rondo and Edgaar would join the the three of you on your quest. Just after daybreak the next morning the group goes to the market square to purchase a pack mule and supplies before heading to the village.
Lucien is a young man of 20 and still looks quite boyish, with a slender frame (150 lbs) and only 5'8" in height. He has a mop of dark brown hair above a pair of inquisitive hazel eyes; his skin is fair with a light freckling across his nose and cheeks. Lucien prefers not to wear heavy clothing or armour, rather opting for a more practical leather jacket with useful pockets and comfortable pants and boots. He fights with a rapier in his left hand but also carries a brace of throwing knives and a small dagger for cutting those troublesome purses or punching onto the deserving.
